Learn about and practice different artistic techniques including linocut, screen printing, cyanotype, zine making, bookbinding, and so much more in this introductory printmaking and book arts class! In the first half of the course, students will learn about the history of printmaking and experiment with different ways to create images and print them onto paper, cloth, and any other media they would like. In the second half, students will learn about and perform different bookbinding techniques to make journals, sketchbooks, artist books, and more.
This tactile, detail-oriented class is great for those looking to challenge themselves and learn something new. Drawing experience is helpful to have, but not necessary to take the class.
Instructor: Rose Tirrito
Instructor Bio: Rose Tirrito is an artist and educator living in central New York. She holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in art education and has spent many years teaching art across various ability levels and stages of development. Her pedagogical approach is informed by researchers such as Olivia Gude, who emphasize the role that arts educators play in exposing students to contemporary methods of investigation and meaning-making. Rose’s primary artistic interests are in silk screening and linocut printing.
