Earth Science

Earth Science is a physical science course that encompasses the fields of geology, meteorology, oceanography, environmental science, and astronomy. In this class participants will cover such subjects as rocks and minerals, the changing surface of the Earth, the structure of the planet, natural cycles (water, currents, atmospheric), the formation of the universe, our astronomic neighbors, and much, much more. The course will involve a mix of lecture, reading, projects, and labs.

Instructor Bio: Hi! My name is Amanda Gray. I genuinely love math and science and helping others feel confident in it. I’m a Professional Mathematics and Science tutor at Tompkins Cortland Community College and have taught Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and Chemistry at TEEN DAY Ithaca. I specialize in creating comfortable, inclusive learning environments where students can feel safe asking questions, exploring ideas, and building resilience in their thinking. My goal is to make math and science accessible, engaging, and even fun. I’m excited to bring energy, clarity, and support into every lesson; and, I look forward to making this class a student favorite!
