Algebra I is a prerequisite course for all higher-level math, including Geometry, Algebra II, Trigonometry, Calculus, etc. This foundation course will introduce the concepts of variables and constants, expressions and equations, inequalities, functions (linear, quadratic, exponential, etc.), and more.
Students should have acquired reasonably good arithmetic skills (including adding/subtracting/multiplying/dividing integers, decimals or fractions, etc.) and pre-algebra skills (factorization, simplification, solving basic equations, etc.)
Instructor Bio: Will Tay was originally from Singapore and graduated with a Computer Science & Information Systems degree in Singapore. Will worked as a software engineer for 12 years in the U.S. and U.K. And he worked as an ESL teacher in China for 6+ years before coming to Ithaca. He currently works at the Cornell Institute for China Economic Research and tutors high school students in Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Calculus, Computer Science and Chemistry. He is also a father of three teenagers.
